About
AS ALARA is a state-owned company under the administration of the Ministry of Climate Change. The objective of the company is to ensure the disposal and management of hazardous and radioactive waste, to guarantee a living environment with minimum radiation risk for future generations and to increase the recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in Estonia.
The activities of the company are:
- Acceptance and management of hazardous waste in Vaivara;
- Management of the former Paldiski nuclear site and redevelopment of the former Paldiski nuclear site according to the needs of the Republic of Estonia;
- Acceptance of radioactive waste generated by enterprises, health care and research institutions in Estonia for treatment and storage;
- Provision of services in the fields of radioactivity and radioactive contamination measurement and deactivation.
